Caring Callers is a project that is delivered and managed by the Fresh Visions senior programme, Intouch. Intouch is a 3 year programme targeting people aged 55 and over, providing a range of health and wellbeing programmes and employment support to combat isolation and loneliness.
The Caring Caller project involves welfare calls being made to Southern Housing's older and vulnerable residents. The calls are made by Southern Housing Contractors as part of their social value commitment and the project has had great success.
By calling these residents we are able to help with any problems they might be facing and can look to get them the help they require. Our contractors helped us in the winter months of December 23 and January 24 to contact 1284 residents, and of these calls we were able to provide referrals or advice on financial services, energy consumption, heating issues and home repairs. We also referred 55 residents to health and wellbeing services through our Intouch programme and were able to issue 185 warm packs to help them through the cold winter months.
We'd like to thank everyone involved with the project and give a special thanks to the contractors who gave up their time to take part:
- Vinci Construction UK Ltd
- Cosy Seal
- The Law Debenture Trust Corporation plc
- MRI Software
- BSW Heating Ltd
- Ecolution Group
