We have an exciting opportunity for a counsellor to join our Fresh Visions team...

Salary: £32,744

Location: Sittingbourne, Kent

 This is a temporary, full time vacancy that will close in 18 days at 23:59 BST.

What you'll do

Fresh Visions are the sister charity of Optivo. We support children, young people and adults who face extreme disadvantage as a result of poverty, domestic abuse, lack of education and social exclusion.

Fresh visions counselling service ‘Thrive’; works in the community and women’s refuges across Kent. Thrive provides long term, trauma informed counselling to men, women and children who have experienced domestic abuse. 

Fresh Visions are seeking a trauma informed, experienced counsellor with an understanding of domestic abuse. You’ll need to be enthusiastic, organised, highly motivated and passionate.

You’ll need to:

  • Work alongside other professionals including refuge staff.
  • Provide long term counselling to adults and/or children.
  • To work in accordance with the terms of relevant legislation and policy including BACP’s ethical code.
  • To maintain files and up to date records.
  • Produce reports and statistical information.

You’ll have:

  • Diploma in counselling
  • Knowledge or experience of working with adult and children affected by domestic abuse
  • Knowledge or experience of mental health issues related to trauma and abuse
  • Member of the BACP
  • BACP/UKCP accredited/registered or working towards with significant post qualification supervised practice hours.
  • Driving licence and car as travel between sites across North and South Kent is needed.

You’ll need to demonstrate:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse client group
  • Effective organisation and administration skills
  • Ability to draft clear and concise correspondence and reports
  • Ability to work in an often highly emotive environment and demonstrate the ability to practise self-care to prevent burnout.

The role is currently funded until February 2024 with hopes of extension.  

There is the possibility of this role being a job share.
